Manhattan Prayer Station pictures

One of the ministries that we do as YWAM Cornerstone is going out into the city with a prayer station. Here are some pictures from a couple weeks ago. Enjoy and maybe even come and join us here at YWAM Cornerstone ;)

This was a Discipleship Training School Thursday activity/outreach into the city

We were in the Lower Manhattan - East side

Many were encouraged to see a Prayer Station in the city (our two Arts and Design students: Selgee and Richard)

Dahye getting contact information- so that we could continue praying for those we met on the street

DTS students and staff praying for a woman

It was an exciting time to share God's heart with the people on the street in Manhattan!

JOY!

Cross Cultural Discipleship Training School in New York

CROSS

CULTURAL

DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING SCHOOL IN NEW YORK CITY

Why New York City?
New York has a gift to the world - the Gateway of Hope to every nation and tongue!

New York was and still is a doorway to liberty for millions of people. Engraved on the monument of the Statue of Liberty is the invitation “Give me your poor and your tired.” Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” The immigrants were given a gift of hope and freedom of religion – to seek True Life! God’s heart for New York is to be a gateway of hope for the salvation of millions from around the world! The mission field has come to New York City.

We are inviting people from every corner of the earth to come and join our Cross Cultural Discipleship Training School in the City of Nations!

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”’ (Romans 10:14-15)

DTS is designed to help you understand God in a deeper way and live more like Jesus. It is based on communal living, which starts with a 12-week classroom phase, followed by an 8-week outreach time. The school emphasizes cross-cultural exposure and global awareness, preparing the students to go out into the nations to proclaim the Good News!

When: Starts September 10

Where: YWAM Cornerstone Training Facility

Cost: Lecture Phase $3900
         Outreach Phase $2000
                 (plus aircraft and ground transportation)

A Gateway of True Hope! A Chain of Blessing!

This is Naomi - a very dear friend of mine from Minnesota - Uffda! The last five days were spent in the Midwest - with lots of green color and an unending amount of space for my eyes to explore and behold -  unending fields that are to be planted or in the process of receiving various kinds of seed(s).

This is Steve and Toni Thorsons, Naomi's parents. Steve is the pastor of Crossroads Community Church in Cokato. I was privileged to share about Youth With a Mission Cornerstone in New York and a bit of my personal story with the community this past Sunday! What a joy it was!

here is the link to a page for YWAM Cornerstone on their Church web page and a recording of my sharing time -> click ;)

shalom to you in this humid evening in New York =)

I skipped a week - patches of light

I skipped one week - not writing, not posting, not scribbling down stories and new revelations - simply because it seemed there was nothing to put down on a piece of paper - to mark the week as distinctive and worth the ink and trees.

It was a week of pressing in really hard to the choice of being patient, loving, kind in word and action, fixing eyes upon things unseen and hoped for. It was a week of constantly finding myself fail as I pressed in - and yet at the same time loved unconditionally. It was a week of grayish mornings, afternoons and evenings - with patches of light here and there. Sometimes very hard to spot, to recognize - To step into - no matter how small or weirdly shaped they were. There's always a patch of light to find.

It was a week of pining for a mountain top while sitting in a sandbox. To see further. To see more than the stretch of my own arm. Walking empty-handed and heavyhearted. wrong yoke. wrong burden (I have chosen).

a song for a heavy heart (to become light)

a story of God's love for one: three people - one King and Lord

Here is the story... =)

So, I like photography. I am not superb at it - but it's one of my most favorite things to do - capture beauty, life, colors and all that is speaking of His heartbeat

I had a camera that I greatly enjoyed. Decent size and all kinds of cool settings =) Now, go back with me about six months or so, mid- fall.

One day (suspense)... I found myself hearing God tell me that the camera I greatly enjoy is no longer mine - so I should put it away. Huh? I have to admit, I think I tried to discern whether I was hearing right for a week or so...not putting the camera away - but using it. He kept on knocking 'Nope, not yours any more'. So I finally answered the knock and put the camera away. And so it laid there... for quite some time.

When a dear friend of mine, Weslea, was about to leave to Brazil for missions, God tugged on my heart that  I should give the camera to her. I also had a feeling that this camera will not stay with her...hmm...

The tug took place about 4 or 5 months ago.. today I received an email from my friend Weslea with a story and here are some snippets from her email:

I have a wonderful story to tell you that involves me, you, a girl here and God.. The One who does incredible things.

As I was preparing to leave for Brazil, I sent out my newsletter and the Lord provided beautifully. After all the things I requested had been provided for (within 2 weeks!) someone asked me if I had a camera to take with me to Brazil. I said no.. They suggested that I write another email telling everyone that God had provided wonderfully and that if anyone still wanted to give that I was in need of a camera. I thought this was a good idea, but never got around to doing it (even though I wrote the email and tried sending it.. It didn’t work)

Then a friend of mine came to me only a few days later..pulled me aside and said “the Lord told me to give you my camera.. I really don’t want to because I love my camera and I told the Lord I don’t want to, but He won’t leave me alone about it. This is the first time He has asked me to do something like this.. I know it’s good...” etc etc etc I was blown away once again because I hadn’t told her or anyone about this need.. But God knew and spoke..

THEN  you wrote to me telling me that the Lord had spoken to you about giving me a camera. I was in awe and was close to telling you that someone had already given me one.. But I stopped and asked the Lord. And then asked you again if you felt the Lord had told you.. You said yes.. So ... If He said to then there is a reason. I didn’t say anything and would just receive.

The camera you gave me was a very nice one! I immediately asked the Lord.. “Oh Father.. Why did you give me this.. I have noooo clue how to use such things...but I trust You have a very specific purpose” I waited.

I came to Brazil and began using the first camera that I received because it was simpler and I already knew how to use it :) I prayed more about “your” camera and the Lord told me that He had someone He wanted me to give it to.. I was only to be the vessel used to bring it to Brazil. I almost cried with joy.....why? Because that just shows how much He cares and how much He loves.. That He knows the desire of someone in this country  and loves them soo much that he used to other people from two different countries in order to bless her.

This past weekend we were doing ministry in the interior of MG (favellas etc) and a friend of mine told me that her dream was to learn photography. (She is very gifted in artistic things as such). Immediately I knew the camera was for her.. I could hardly wait until we got home to share with her and to give it to her.

We arrived home late and we were both pretty tired from the weekend of ministry.. But I called her into my room and shared with her the same story that I am sharing with you now—so that she would know the extent that Papa went in order to give her this camera...

She has begun taking pictures already and the Lord has changed her life drastically with this.. She said that just a few days earlier she had come to a place where she was actually doubting if God was real... She said never again....she said “I am a tree and this event is a root that just went real deep into the ground.. I’ll always remember this...” God is REAL and FOR REAL He loves us with an INCREDIBLE love.

Love. Extravagant Love.

practical and slightly mind-boggling

For God so loved...

I will start with the practical and less flabbergasting...

This week we have officially decided the frame-date for the upcoming Discipleship Training School in the Fall.It will start September 10 and will run till beginning of  February. I will be leading this DTS and I need your support - most and above all - your prayer support. I have mentioned several times that Youth With a Mission Cornerstone has been given a multi-ethnic vision and God has put on my heart to dig the soil of this dream. I am still the only non-Korean at the base - but every word that comes from God's mouth does not just drop to the ground - but completes it's will... it takes time, patience, commitment and hoping for the things unseen. The Fall DTS is planed to be an English-Multi-Ethnic Discipleship Training School and it would be the first one at this base.

Please, join me in this soil digging and dream His dream for YWAM Cornerstone together with me and the rest of the staff here in New York.

<--- these are some of the students from our current Arts and Design DTS!!!
Amazingly talented people - ready to see and participate in God's redemptive plan in the area of arts!

Continuing on to the second half of my more mind-boggling ponderings...

Colin Harbinson (http://www.colinharbinson.com/)
He has been actively involved in the area of arts for 40 years and is the author of an internationally acclaimed production Toymaker & Son that has been performed in 70 countries.

The topic for this week was The Art and the Kingdom of God.

Much of what the speaker shared was linked with the area of arts. However, his teaching is applicable not only in the area of art and life in general.
There were several areas that stood out for me as I listened... Some very good reminders!

Thought/Question number one: how far does salvation reach? Does it stop with the person - his soul and heart? Or is it global - meaning, is salvation meant to permeate culture and all that it contains? All of creation is groaning- waiting-anticipating completion. ALL creation - salvation does not end with my own personal flesh and heart. I am salt and I need to be used up to the last bit - spread and sprinkled into every crack and pit hole of my/our culture.

One day all -ALL... let me say it again - ALL of creation will be restored-redeemed-made whole-made complete-brought back to it's original intention - wow... isn't that just mind blowing - I would say so..!

New York - you are groaning - but remember- your redeemer is coming and He will come just in time!!!

WAKE UP

It is Easter - and I better not be peeking into the grave -for the living cannot be found amongst the dead.

Risen!!! He is risen! The Truth that He is risen and that He is sooo alive will stand  and move forever into the streets paved with gold.

So Wake up my Soul! for your King is risen!

....Am I? Have I seen the heavy stone roll away from my own grave and walked out into freedom - into Life soaked in abundance of grace and mercy..?

Yes - He lives

...Do I? For He did come into our world to spread Life- to be Life - to be broken bread for the hungry one. Am I hungry..?

Wake up my Soul! Wake up... and remember the empty grave. The joy set before the One who suffered was and is  - us - the hungry and the broken coming fully to Life!

So wake up my Soul! Wake up...

I'm ready, God, so ready,
ready from head to toe,
Ready to sing, ready to raise a tune:
"Wake up, soul!
Wake up, harp! wake up, lute!
Wake up, you sleepyhead sun!"

I'm thanking you, God, out loud in the streets,
singing your praises in town and country.
The deeper your love, the higher it goes;
every cloud is a flag to your faithfulness.
